Five-time British RX champion Julian Godfrey heads the order at the end of the first day of running in the second round of the MSA British Rallycross Championship in association with ODYSSEY Battery at Lydden Hill.

Godfrey led the third of three Supercar races in Q1 throughout to set a time three seconds faster than his closest challenger, Dan Rooke, who finished second to Godfrey on the road and continues to impress in his debut rallycross Supercar season, following a podium finish at Croft. Championship leader Kevin Procter and Ollie O’Donovan won the other two races in the first qualifying runs, to be fourth and fifth, with Dave Bellerby and Andy Grant fifth and sixth. Liam Doran suffered a broken driveshaft while Jack Thorne retired with mechanical issues and Mad Mark Watson crashed out just meters after the start of Q1.

The MSA Junior Rallycross Championship run two events at Lydden Hill this weekend, as they do not travel to Belgium with the other British RX classes in July. The Junior RX racers ran three qualifying races on day one, with Sam Jones setting three fastest times. Round one winner Tom Constantine is second overall with Tom Middleton third. Matt Rainbow missed the first race with mechanical issues, then rolled out of race two. The first Junior final of the weekend takes place tomorrow morning.

In the Super1600 Rallycross Championship, Russian driver Timur Shigaboutdinov leads the field, while Chrissy Palmer was twice fastest in the RX150 Rallycross Championship. Tony Lynch leads the MSA Supernational Rallycross Championship category, local pairing Nathan Heathcote and Simon Ovenden lead the way in the Swift Sport Rallycross Championship, Ray Morgan is top in the Retro Rallycross category, Mariusz Mehlberg leads the Hot Hatch category and Keifer Hudson was fastest in the first BMW Mini Rallycross Championship qualifying race.
