5 Nations BRX introduces FIA Cross Car category to compliment RX150 class in 2024

18th March 2024

The increasingly-popular Cross Car category for FIA sanctioned single-seater machines will join the Motorsport UK British Rallycross Championship 5 Nations Trophy roster in 2024.

Single-seater rallycross is nothing new at 5 Nations BRX rounds, the RX150 Championship having been part of events for over a decade. The RX150 category will now be joined by Cross Car machines, produced by a range of manufacturers.

A successful category in Scandinavia – notably in the RallyX series and in Finland, Belgium and the Baltic region, FIA Cross Cars have also been racing in the UK and Ireland since 2022, in the UK’s round of the Nitro Rallycross Championship, the BTRDA Clubmans Rallycross Championship and the Irish Rallycross Championship.

Introduced by the FIA as a more regulated version of the Cross Car class (previously known as Cross Kart) a number of manufacturers, including World Rally Championship star Thierry Neuville’s LifeLive concern, have delivered a number of iterations of the machines fitted with motorcycle engines.

Any Cross Car competitors that are yet to express their interest in the class can contact 5 Nations BRX through social media, or by contacting Lydden Hill Race Circuit.

Drew Furlong, 5 Nations BRX Championship Manager:

“Interest is clearly growing in the Cross Car category in the UK and Ireland and a number Cross Car owners have approached us about adopting the regulations in 5 Nations BRX, so we’re excited about this introduction for all rounds of the 2024 season. We know just how good single-seater rallycross racing can be from the action the RX150 class regularly produces, and we look forward to more of the same from RX150 and Cross Car going forward.”
