Barrett returns to 5 Nations BRX for Mondello Park
Supercar event-winner Ian Barrett will return to the Motorsport UK British Rallycross Championship 5 Nations Trophy for the penultimate double-header of the campaign at Mondello Park next month [October 4-5].
Irishman Barrett made his rallycross Supercar debut at the Lydden Hill season-opener in 2024 and put a difficult first period of the campaign behind him by switching to the Tony Bardy Motorsport squad to run his ex-Kristoffersson Motorsport Volkswagen Polo.
The former circuit-racer and rally driver then delivered a strong performance in the final weekend of the 2024 season to secure a maiden outright win under the floodlights of the annual Lydden Hill fireworks event.
He raced in the opening rounds of the 2025 campaign at Lydden Hill, but suffered accident damage and engine problems. Due to clashing commitments hasn’t been able to contest subsequent rounds.
Barrett re-joins the field at his home round of the series where for the second time this year, 5 Nations BRX Supercar contenders will race with the Irish Rallycross Championship Supercar protagonists.
Ian Barrett:
“It feels like a while since I was last in the Supercar. It will be nice to race in Ireland; my hopes are to get two consistent results from the two days, without any issues. The team has worked hard on the car and it is back to the same as it was for Lydden so I’m looking forward to getting back to it for sure.”
