LD Motorsports Citroen C4

Heathcote joins LD Motorsports for British RX Supercar campaign

7th March 2017

Nathan Heathcote will race an LD Motorsports Supercar in the Toyo Tyres MSA British Rallycross Championship this season.

The 2016 Swift Sport Rallycross Champion will begin the year in the Kenneth Hansen-built Citroen C4 that multiple British RX champion Pat Doran raced last season, and could swap to one of the team’s Citroen DS3s from the third round at Pembrey in Wales. Heathcote won the single-make Swift Sport category year under the guidance of experienced engineer Graham Rodemark, who will also work with the young driver in his move to Supercar. “I’m absolutely buzzing to race a Supercar this year. It’s a big step up from the Swifts but I’ve watched them a lot and it’s a buzz just being around them. I’ll probably do the first two rounds in the C4 and then see how it’s going. It’s a big learning curve,” said Heathcote.

“I couldn’t go into a better team really, between them Pat and Liam have so much Supercar and rallycross experience, and I get on really well with them. Graham’s also coming with me and I couldn’t have a better bloke than him either. I get on so well with Graham and it will really help going into a new team. He can see in my driving what needs to be done with the car, so that will be very helpful in learning to race in Supercar.” Heathcote is targeting podium finishes in his maiden Supercar season. “I’d definitely love to get on the podium a couple of times this season. Of course everyone wants to win, and I’ll be trying for that but I just want to get my first race out of the way and see how it goes.”

The first round of the Toyo Tyres MSA British Rallycross Championship takes place at Croft Circuit next week (March 19). Buy tickets for the event here.
