Newsham withdraws from British RX

22nd August 2016

Power Maxed Racing and Supercar driver Dave Newsham have withdrawn from the final three rounds of the MSA British Rallycross Championship in association with ODYSSEY Battery.

The squad made its debut at the opening round of the Championship at Croft this season, and won qualifying races in its four appearances through the opening five rounds of the season, racing its Ford Fiesta Supercar, which has now been put up for sale.

Team owner Adam Weaver, who raced in the Swift Sport Rallycross Championship last season said: "It's a shame to withdraw from British Rallycross as it’s such a strong Championship.” Former British Touring Car Championship race winner Newsham, who scored a best British RX result of eighth in round four at Pembrey, recently made a one-off appearance in the BTCC and has set his sights on returning to the circuit-racing championship next season. "It's a shame as rallycross is so much fun and the car is very competitive now, I've taken qualifying race wins, seconds and thirds,” said Newsham. “With the early teething issues ironed out now, it is in the perfect place for somebody with the right budget to challenge for the championship. It simply needs a new livery and you'll have virtually a brand new car.”

Newsham leaves the series 10th overall in the points table
