Winner takes all finale for RX150 championship at Croft

Winner takes all finale for RX150 championship at Croft

9th October 2015

Following a series of hard fought battles in the first seven rounds of the championship, former circuit racing star Chrissy Palmer leads double RX150 champion Marc Scott by two points. Both drivers have taken three victories during the 2015 campaign.

While the pair will battle it out for championship honours, they won’t have the Croft event all their own way. The regular RX150 drivers will be joined by FIA World Rallycross Championship star Andreas Bakkerud, who was announced last week, multiple rallycross champion Dave Bellerby, who won the first round of RX150s at Croft and front running British rally driver Ryan Champion. The former Mitsubishi Evo Challenge champion is no stranger to the RX150 category; he raced against WRC star Kris Meeke and Ollie O’Donovan among others some seven years ago. “I think both Kris [Meeke] and I beat Ollie last time I drove an RX150. It’s good of him to ask me to join the rest of the stars next weekend. I have to say I’m really looking forward to getting back into the buggy and seeing what we can do at Croft,’ said Champion.

Following the final round of the MSA British Rallycross Championship on Saturday, the RX150 category will support the annual MSA British Rallycross Grand Prix on Sunday, also at Croft.

RX150 championship promoter Ollie O’Donovan is looking forward to watching the guest drivers take on the RX150 front-runners, and seeing who will be crowned the 2015 RX150 champion. “The first buggy over the line will win the championship. It’s pretty much that simple. It’s great for the championship that it’s this close, that’s how it has been between Chirssy and Marc all year. They have both shown great speed this season and produced great racing. I will be delighted for which ever of them wins. It’s also great to have Andreas and Ryan racing with us this weekend, I’m sure they will be podium contenders,” said O’Donovan.

Action at Croft Circuit gets underway at 0900 on Saturday 10 October, while those unable to attend the event can watch the action unfold on livestream.

More information on where to watch the MSA British Rallycross Championship can be found of the championship website.
