Prize test drives with OlsbergsMSE expanded for 2026 to include Swift and Junior series
Building on foundations laid last season, in 2026 a driver from both the Swift Sport Rallycross Championship and Motorsport UK Junior Rallycross Championship will win a prize test with world-leading rallycross team, OlsbergsMSE (OMSE).
2025 Swift Sport Rallycross Champion Matt Cake won the opportunity to test a 310BHP four-wheel-drive Supercar Lites machine with Swedish team OMSE, thanks to his performances through his title-winning campaign, within the first year of the Driver Development prize concept.
That programme has been extended for 2026. A driver from the highly-competitive, tightly-controlled, single-make Swift Sport Rallycross Championship that operates within the Motorsport UK British Rallycross Championship 5 Nations Trophy will win a prize test in an FC2 rallycross car, a mid-engine, 550 bhp, four-wheel-drive, paddle-shift transmission machine designed to deliver comparative performance to that of a conventional rallycross Supercar, and currently being raced in both Europe and America this year.
Meanwhile, a driver from within the highly-successful Motorsport UK Junior Rallycross Championship will win a prize drive opportunity in the single-make Supercar Lites machine.
The Junior RX series in the UK is renowned for developing talented young drivers from 14-17 years of age, having facilitated the likes of World Rallycross Championship event-winner Kevin Hansen and European Rallycross Champion Patrick O’Donovan getting their first steps on the ladder in the discipline.
OMSE is a title-winning team in European, World and American Rallycross Championships, that is also the biggest rallycross car constructor in the world, with a long-term philosophy of creating future stars.
The prize test opportunities will be awarded to the two drivers that best stand out during the 2026 season, as voted by an experienced panel of judges.
That roster includes the Swift Rallycross Championship organisation, rallycross expert Hal Ridge, 5 Nations BRX Marketing and Communications Manager Philippa Neilson, Championship Driving Standards Advisor Hans Heuvelmans and Championship Scrutineer Nigel Jones.
“We’re delighted to not only be continuing in the prize test drive opportunity for 2026 but significantly expanding it too,” said Swift Rallycross Championship co-creator, Sarah Watson. “We have had so many drivers race with us in both Swifts and Juniors over the years who have used our championships to develop their skills and go on to achieve amazing things elsewhere too. We want to continue helping our competitors not only have the best possible time racing in our classes, but to also expand their horizons for the future by being able to offer these opportunities. Thank you to OMSE and the Eriksson family for continuing in this venture, I’m really excited to watch our season unfold and working with our carefully-chosen panel to decide who will be testing the Supercar Lites and FC2.”
