Ollie O’Donovan makes 208 Supercar switch for Mondello Park

2nd October 2025

Former champion Ollie O’Donovan will switch to a Peugeot 208 Supercar for the penultimate weekend of the Motorsport UK British Rallycross Championship 5 Nations Trophy season at Mondello Park (October 4-5).

O’Donovan has raced a Team RX Racing Ford Focus and Proton Iriz RX in the 2025 season so far, but with team mate and son Patrick O’Donovan – the current championship leader – forced to miss the Irish weekend due to clashing commitments at the Extreme H World Cup, Ollie O’Donovan will race the squad’s 208.

Team RX Racing acquired the Peugeot Sport-built car for the 2023 season, that has since been used to win the 5 Nations BRX crown in 2023 and 2024, and the FIA European Rallycross Championship title last season with Patrick O’Donovan and SCM Motorsport.

O’Donovan Snr claimed his 2007 British Rallycross crown at the wheel of a Peugeot 306 Supercar, and will race a Peugeot for the first time in the championship since 2009 this weekend. He endured a difficult event last time out at Loheac in France in the Iriz RX, where a broken oil pump belt in the opening qualifying races put him out.

“With Patrick bring forced to miss Mondello, it made sense to use his Peugeot, plus it means that we can continue development work with our engine supplier Oreca,” said O’Donovan. “It’s one of the best rallycross cars ever built from the time when Peugeot Sport was in the World Championship, so it will be interesting for me to drive it at a track I know well. I hired a different 208 for the final rounds of Euro RX last year but I don’t think I had the best experience then for a number of reasons, so I’m looking forward to seeing how our own car is to drive. Believe it or not I have never even sat in it since Patrick started racing it so a lot will be new for me.”
