Reigning 5 Nations BRX Champion Tohill to begin title-defence at Lydden Hill

30th March 2026

Two-time Motorsport UK British Rallycross Championship 5 Nations Trophy title-winner Derek Tohill will get the defence of his 2025 crown underway at Lydden Hill this weekend (April 5-6).

Tohill switched to a Peugeot 208 WRX Supercar last season, having raced a Ford Fiesta for a decade. Using the former World Championship machine, operated collaboratively between PFCRX and DA Racing, nine-time Irish Rallycross Champion and double European Rallycross Champion Tohill was only once outside the top two during the 11-round 5 Nations BRX campaign, securing the title during the season-finale Fireworks weekend at Lydden Hill.

With four wins to his name across the season, Tohill added the 2025 title to his 2019 crown, and joins the grid for the opening double-header at Lydden Hill with eyes on challenging for a third crown.

Tohill’s team has faced a race against time to be ready for the event, following mechanical issues encountered in the recent Irish Rallycross Championship double-header at Mondello Park.

Derek Tohill:

“I’m delighted to be back in 5 Nations BRX. To be honest it’s been a very, very last minute decision because of some problems we had last day out at Mondello and we’re still trying to get everything together. But it will be worth it, and as always I’m looking forward to driving one of the best rallycross tracks in the world this weekend. This time last year we arrived at Lydden after just a short test with the 208 in France and there was a lot to learn. We had brilliant season with a mix of French, British and Irish events and learned a lot, so it will be nice to come back to Lydden Hill with that experience in the pocket.”

As the British Rallycross Championship celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2026, the headline 5 Nations BRX category runs over nine rounds with events at Lydden Hill, Mondello Park (Ireland), Loheac (France) and Pembrey Circuit (Wales), the campaign concluding with the annual fireworks weekend back at Lydden Hill.
