Cake puts icing on dominant Swift season at Lydden Hill

10th November 2025

Lydden Hill local Matt Cake completed an undefeated run through the 2025 Swift Sport Rallycross Championship at his home circuit with a pair of wins to wrap up the title in style.

Fastest in Q1 and Q3 on Saturday, Cake fought back from technical issues in Q2 to qualify on pole position for the final, and led from the front to put the title out of reach of his rivals, securing the unique prize of a test drive in a RallyX Series Supercar Lites machine as a result.

Philip Seath finished the Saturday final under floodlights in second, just ahead of rallycross debutant Tyler Scott, who recovered from spinning out of his opening qualifying race to secure a dream first podium, ahead of Group B Audi quattro regular Dave Halford, making his first Swift Sport appearance.

Cake had to again overcome adversity in the season-finale on Sunday, an incident in Q2 putting him out of qualifying, having been fastest in Q1. Quickest in Q2 was renowned rallycross star turned influencer Liam Doran, while Samuel Petersen was fastest in Q3. But, it was again Cake who seized the lead in the final and never looked back to complete an undefeated run through the year. Seath finished second with Petersen returned to the podium, ahead of Scott.
