Flitney makes substantial change to begin first full 5 Nations BRX season

20th March 2024

Volvo C30 Supercar racer Dominic Flitney will embark on a maiden full Motorsport UK British Rallycross Championship 5 Nations Trophy campaign this year having made significant revisions to his racing programme.

Flitney switched to the ex-Frode Holte C30 in 2021, but has endured a range of mechanical issues in his selected events since.

Now, with preparation of the C30 being outsourced to prepare for the 2024 season-opener at Lydden Hill on Easter Weekend, and Flitney having committed to racing an FIA Cross Car in a number of BTRDA Clubmans Championship events to get race sharp for his 5 Nations BRX effort, the former Swift Sport Rallycross Championship driver is hoping for a change in performances this year.

5 Nations BRX runs across 10 rounds in 2024 with events at Lydden Hill, Mondello Park (Ireland) and Pembrey (South Wales). The opening two rounds take place at Lydden Hill on Easter Bank Holiday Weekend (Mar 30 - April 1).

Dominic Flitney:

“Since I got the Volvo not everything has really been in place for things to go how I would like. This year it is different. The plan is to do the whole season, and I’m getting outside help with preparing the car, which will make a big difference. We had a lot of issues in the last couple of years, hopefully they are behind us now. For myself I’ve made changes too, part of that is racing a Cross Car in the BTRDA Clubmans Rallycross Championship. >span class="NormalTextRun SCXW260874700 BCX4" data-ccp-parastyle="Normal (Web)"> just to get me seat time in something that is something like a Supercar performance, to be sharper than I was coming to events. Otherwise it’s the semi-finals when I am onto the pace, because I hadn’t driven since the last event, and then it’s too late. I’m really looking forward to the season and hopefully the effort will be reflected in the performances.”
