Kane takes Lydden double as Weatherly scoops Cross Car crown

10th November 2025

David Kane (Speedcar Wonder) doubled-up at Lydden Hill in the final weekend of the first-ever Motorsport UK Cross Car Championship to continue a run of five successive wins, but another consistent performance from Max Weatherly (LifeLive TN11) was enough for the former Swift Sport title-winner to seal the crown.

Kane dominated Saturday proceedings through qualifying and the semi-finals to secure pole position for the final, then led the main event from the front of the order to complete a clean-sweep, as Bradley Turner (LifeLive TN11) finished second in a strong performance and reigning Swift Sport champion Will Ovenden (Mygale XC04) completed the podium.

Kevin Sharkey (Speedcar Wonder), James Constantine (LifeLive TN5) on his last weekend in his current machine and Weatherley completed the top six, as Stephen Jones claimed victory in the RX150 Rallycross category to secure the class championship title.

On Sunday, it was Ovenden who went quickest in Q1, before Kane again seized the advantage in Q2 and Q3, before leading the final from the front. Lydden local Ovenden finished second, while fellow Mygale runner Benjamin Bartlett recovered from retiring in the penultimate round final to finish the finale on the podium, and as a result just beat Ovenden into the championship top-three, behind Weatherly and Kane.

Weatherly, Liam McMullan (Speedcar Wonder) and newcomer Roan Lundy (LifeLive TN11) completed the final top six of the 12-round season.

On Saturday at Lydden Hill, the first-ever Motorsport UK Junior Cross Championship event took place, in which rallycross newcomer George Edenborough (LifeLive TN5) claimed the win ahead of Harrison Folley (LifeLive TN5) and Phoebe Cake (LifeLive TN5).
