Mondello Park will feature a revised layout for the penultimate instalment of the 2025 Motorsport UK British Rallycross Championship 5 Nations Trophy this weekend (October 4-5).

While the traditional rallycross circuit will be run on the second day of the double-header weekend, on Sunday, competitors on Saturday will experience a longer route.

The layout was last trialled in the opening weekend of the 2023 Irish Rallycross Championship season, where instead of turning sharp right into the ‘Hole in the Hedge’ for turn two, competitors continue down the asphalt race circuit to what is called ‘Turn 3’ on the circuit racing layout.

The double-apex ‘Turn 3’ right hander leads onto another straight, down to the joker lap split. While the standard lap takes a sharp left onto the ‘Rallycross 2’ loose-surface section, the joker lap is straight on, using the same joker layout as on the now traditional rallycross layout at Mondello.

Supercar front-runners Derek Tohill, John McCluskey and Gary Donoghue have previously raced on the longer route. However, a pre-event test this Friday will give competitors the opportunity to sample the new layout ahead of racing action getting underway on Saturday.

The Naas circuit has run a variety of layouts for 5 Nations BRX events in the last decade, including in 2017, when the circuit was run in both clockwise and anti-clockwise directions across the two days of a double-header weekend.
