BTCC racer Scott switches to British RX for 2017

7th March 2017

British Touring Car Championship driver Warren Scott will move to the Toyo Tyres MSA British Rallycross Championship this season to race an LD Motorsports Citroen DS3 Supercar.

Team BMR owner Scott is switching disciplines to allow him to separately concentrate on running his front-running Subaru Levorg team in the BTCC, and his own racing in British RX. He will race the car that Dan Rooke used to win the British RX title last season. "I have already had a test day with Liam [Doran] and his team,” said Scott. “The Citroen was unbelievable and I felt at home in the car and with the team straight away. I am really looking forward to this new personal challenge and to working with LD Motorsports who won the British Supercar Rallycross title in 2016 with Liam himself.”

Scott’s DS3 will be sponsored by RCiB in British RX, while he will continue in his role as Team Principal in his own BTCC team. "I will be competing in the British Rallycross Championship, I will however remain 100% hands on as Team Principal and am fully committed to Team BMR and Subaru in the BTCC and look forward to the championship fight this year. Although I had a very strong team behind me in the BTCC, I found it increasingly difficult to concentrate on my own racing when I had to also focus on the team’s performance and results as a whole,’ he said. “Having numerous cars on the grid meant that I could never fully centre my attention on my own race as there was always something going on. The BTCC is so competitive, often the top twenty are covered by just a second and there is no room for error, you must be 100% focused, 100% of the time.”

The first round of the Toyo Tyres MSA British Rallycross Championship takes place at Croft Circuit next week (March 19). Buy tickets for the event here.
