Cakes leads Swift race for massive prize drive opportunity

19th July 2025

With four rounds of the 2025 Swift Sport Rallycross Championship - the single-make category within the Motorsport UK British Rallycross Championship 5 Nations Trophy structure – undertaken, rallycross newcomer Matt Cake leads the charge for one of the best prize drive opportunities in British Rallycross history.

For 2025, the winner of the highly-competitive Swift Sport series will win a test in an Olsbergs MSE (OMSE) Supercar Lites machine, as used as the support category of the RallyX championship in Europe, and previously run in the World RX, Global RX, ARA and Nitro RX series, across the world.

While the Swift Sport cars feature a production-based 1600cc engine with carefully controlled modifications that create a perfect entry-level platform, the Supercar Lites machines are thoroughbred racers.

The four-wheel-drive tubular spaceframe chassis cars develop 310BHP from 2.4 litre engines mounted in the rear, connected to a sequential gearbox, and have been part of the pathway to the top of the sport for many leading talents, including World RX event winners Kevin Hansen, Kevin Eriksson, Sebastien Eriksson, Niclas Gronholm, Reinis Nitiss and many more.

The Swift Sport champion from the 2025 campaign will travel to test the Supercar Lites, but first, the title needs to be won.

After the opening four rounds of the series, Cake holds the advantage having claimed a clean-sweep of victories, but another Swift newcomer, Samuel Petersen, his hot on his heels, second in the standings and only 12 points behind, thanks to a strong run of podium finishes.

The battle continues at Pembrey Circuit next weekend, where a number of new and returning drivers will look to also claim valuable championship points for themselves.
