Durdin to make BMW Mini debut at Lydden Hill

26th August 2016

Reigning MSA Junior Rallycross Champion Bradley Durdin will make his first appearance in the BMW Mini Rallycross Championship this weekend at Lydden Hill, racing a recently acquired BMW Mini Cooper S built by the Bell Rallycross team.

Durdin is set to join the Mini series from the sixth round of the MSA British Rallycross Championship in association with ODYSSEY Battery and for the rest of the 2016 season, with the aim of racing a more powerful car than he has previously. Lydden Hill will make the first time the 2015 Junior RX champion, who won the MSA title last year with Peter Gwynne Motorsport, has driven a supercharged rallycross car, but he is looking forward to the challenge. “I know my team and I have a huge learning curve ahead of us. I've never driven anything supercharged before so learning how to work with the car’s power will be the main thing for me,” said Durdin.

“The car itself is pretty well proven so it's down to me and my team now to get the overall package working how it should. We've given the car a few new upgrades that will hopefully get me closer to a trophy with a bit of luck. Hopefully we'll be able to get on the pace pretty quickly and give the Hudson brothers a run for their money. Whatever they're doing they seem to have their cars hooked up and have only been challenged on the rare occasion. David Bell is always there or there about too, so it will be tough.” The BMW Mini Rallycross Championship is currently led by Keifer Hudson, embroiled in a battle at the front of the order with brother Kris Hudson. Reigning champion David Bell is third overall.
