Lydden Hill launches 5 Nations BRX with Soapbox Trophy

9th March 2020

There’s £200 up for grabs to the winner of the Soapbox Trophy race which will take place at the opening round of the Motorsport UK British Rallycross Championship 5 Nations Trophy Presented by Cooper Tires over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend. The FREE fun event will take place on the Sunday evening of the two-day event and is open to everyone including competitors, media, marshals, officials and spectators who meet the criteria below.

The design of the soapbox must be family friendly and any instrument within the soapbox must be designed with safety in mind, with no sharp edges inside or outside the vehicle including glass or perspex. Drivers and passengers must remain seated at all times.

Soapboxes are designed to run on gravity so no pedal power or motors will be permitted. If it’s deemed inappropriate, you will not be allowed to participate and may come under investigation from the Race Director!

The driver and passenger’s body and limbs must be fully covered by suitable clothing and a helmet and gloves must be worn. Fancy dress and decorated soapboxes are not compulsory but are welcomed, but please make sure you have the correct clothes on underneath any costumes.

Each competing team may have a maximum of six people, but only two will be allowed in the soapbox at any one time. The minimum age limit is 16 years old. All drivers and passengers will be required to sign a disclaimer before racing, and under 18s will need a parent or guardian present to sign on their behalf.

The event signals the opening round of the Motorsport UK British Rallycross Championship 5 Nations Trophy on Sunday and Monday and will offer 60+ races showcasing Britain’s top Rallycross drivers with nine championships taking to the circuit including 600bhp Supercars, Super National & Super 1600s, the Retro Rallycross Championship, Junior Rallycross Championship featuring racing from rising stars aged 14-17, Swifts, BMW Minis and RX150s.

Tickets to the 5 Nations BRX will be required and may be purchased separately and in advance from www.lyddenhill.co.uk. Prices start from £12 for adult Sunday entry, and under 13s go free. Please see the website for full details.
