Points become critical as 5 Nations BRX enters penultimate weekend at Pembrey
The Motorsport UK British Rallycross Championship 5 Nations Trophy is entering the final stages of the 2026 campaign, making this weekend’s double-header at Pembrey Circuit a critical element of the season (September 26-27).
Four-time British Rallycross Champion Pat Doran (Ford Escort) has only once been off the podium so far in 2026 and heads the Super Retro Rallycross Championship standings, but the class is full of potential winners, with four victors from six rounds so far. Retro Rallycross class graduate Dan Swayland (Ford Escort BDT) continues to seek a first win in the top two-wheel-drive class, but holds second in the championship table, just two points ahead of the most recent new winner, Stuart Emery (Volvo 242). Allan Tapscott (Ford Escort) meanwhile came within touching distance of a first podium of the year last time out at Valkenswaard in the Netherlands, but for a jump start penalty that dropped him down the order.
Bradley Turner (LifeLive TN11) has led the Motorsport UK Cross Car Championship standings since the opening round at Blyton Park, but barring a mistake at Lydden Hill in July, the momentum of late has been with former Swift Sport Rallycross Champion Will Ovenden (Ligier XC01), the gap in the standings down to just 20 points with five rounds remaining for the class that runs at every 5 Nations BRX and BTRDA Clubmans event through the year. Teddie Macpherson (Ligier XC01) is third in the points race, ahead of James Constantine (LifeLive TN11) and James Black (Ligier XC01), the circuit-racer taking part in a campaign of selected events and has a victory to his credit.
William Hands leads the way in the Motorsport UK Junior Rallycross Championship for single-make 1300cc Suzuki Swift machines and is one of a number of drivers that could secure a title this weekend, the same being said for Swift Sport Rallycross Championship leader Philip Seath, who is joined in the class this weekend by Danny Bean, the latter having claimed victory on his rallycross debut at Lydden Hill in July. Multiple rallycross champion Tony Lynch (Toyota MR2) ended the winning streak of Retro Rallycross Championship newcomer Jon Wood (Ford Escort) last time out at Valkenswaard, but Wood continues to hold a comfortable lead at the head of the standings, while Lynch closes on the top three with his part season of strong scores, now sitting just behind Ian Biagi (Mini Clubman) and Peter Christmas (Toyota Corolla).
In the BTRDA Clubmans Rallycross Championship, Ford Fiesta campaigner Fred Ling leads the overall standings thanks to a trio of wins in the Super Modified category. Reigning overall champion Alex Fletcher (Honda Civic) is second in the points, tied with BMW Mini racer Leah McManus, just three points shy of Ling.
Arguably the most eclectic category of the event is the BTRDA Super Modified Rallycross Championship, home to a range of machinery including a Mercedes SLK V8, rear-wheel-drive Ford Fiesta and Focus’, Mini Countrymans, Lotus Exiges and an Alfa Romeo 147.
While Ling leads the SuperModified points, Fletcher heads the Production standings and McManus tops the BMW Mini order. Mesi Evans (Peugeot 205) leads the way in the up-to-1995 Classic class and while Oscar Cooper (Suzuki Swift) is top of the BTRDA Junior division.
Unique for Pembrey and this weekend’s event is that the circuit will be run in a different direction on both days, clockwise on Saturday and anti-clockwise on Sunday.
