Scott C2 Launch

Scott graduates to Super1600 for British RX 2017

12th December 2016

Sittingbourne’s Darren Scott will race a Citroen C2 in the MSA British Rallycross Championship in association with ODYSSEY Battery next season, in the front-wheel drive Super1600 category.

Scott graduates from the single-make Swift Sport Rallycross Championship to Super1600, following in the footsteps of double Swift champion Tristan Ovenden, who raced in the European Championship specification category in 2016 and finished second in the points. Scott’s Citroen C2 will be prepared by JAM Motorsport and Satchell Engineering, with the engine turned by Sandy Brown Racing Engine Technology.

“It's taken a year of talking and planning but I'm happy that it's all come together and I'm looking forward to the 2017 season in the British Rallycross Championship,” said Scott. “We’re planning to try and compete in some rounds of either the European or French Championship too. Racing in Super1600 has been a goal of mine for a few years now and with the help of Pirtek Medway and the rest of my sponsors, it’s now possible.” The Super1600 Championship was won by Paul Coney this season, driving a Harry Hockly Motorsport built Vauxhall Corsa.

The nine-round 2017 MSA British Rallycross Championship gets underway at Croft Circuit on March 19. See a full calendar of events here.
