Former British and European Champion Tohill set for 5 Nations BRX return

10th April 2025

Former British and European Rallycross Champion Derek Tohill has confirmed his return to the Motorsport UK British Rallycross Championship 5 Nations Trophy in 2025, that gets underway next week at Lydden Hill [April 19 -21].

Twice a champion in the FIA European Rallycross Championship’s then rear-wheel-drive TouringCar category [2010 and 2013], Tohill secured the 5 Nations BRX Supercar crown in 2021. Last year, he netted his record-equalling eighth successive Irish Rallycross Championship title and currently leads the 2024-2025 Irish RX standings.

But next weekend, he will embark on a fresh programme in 5 Nations BRX, racing his OlsbergsMSE Ford Fiesta Supercar, run by the PFCRX team.

Alongside racing one of the most successful Fiesta Supercars ever built by Swedish powerhouse OMSE, Tohill is also piloting his rear-wheel-drive Euro RX winning Fiesta in the RallyX series this year, and contested the opening RallyX weekend in Portugal last month. Days after the second round of 5 Nations BRX at Lydden Hill, Tohill will compete in the second RallyX weekend at Valkenswaard in Holland.

A previous Lydden Hill race-winner, Tohill last stood on the top step of the podium in a 5 Nations BRX event during joint 5 Nations BRX and Irish RX events in Mondello Park and Pembrey in 2023, and will continue to score 5 Nations BRX points in the joint Irish RX event at Mondello Park in May [24-25].

Derek Tohill:

“I’m very much looking forward to racing the Supercar at Lydden Hill, where we had some amazing days in the past. I raced a rear-wheel-drive car for the first time at Lydden, and have won there in Supercar on the way to the title a few years ago. We’ve had some stiff opposition in the Irish Championship at Mondello recently, but I’m very much looking forward to testing ourselves in 5 Nations BRX on Easter Weekend - a real historic rallycross date in the calendar. I’ll need to get back in four-wheel-drive mode after racing in the first round of RallyX in Portugal last month with my rear-wheel-drive Fiesta, and I haven’t raced on the new-look Lydden track either with the jump and new first corner. Our truck and infrastructure is still in Europe on its way to Holland for the next round of RallyX the week after Lydden, so this will be a proper van-and-trailer effort, which I’m really looking forward to.”
